After the release of our Vol. 10 compilation Seippelabel is ready switch gears and focus on live events. We are proud announce that we will be hosting a performance by Canadian producer I Am Robot And Proud at one of Beijing’s finest underground venues, fRUITYSPACE. For those fond of live electronics and video manipulation, this multimedia performance is not one to miss. It is also the release date of his new album, Lucky Static. In addition we will have two spectacular local artists, Meng Qi and gogoj joining the night who will bring distinctly unique live sets ranging from a showcase of Meng Qi’s always intriguing handmade devices and gogoj’s signature dark noise.

I Am Robot And Proud

I Am Robot And Proud is the name Toronto native Shaw-Han Liem works under to create his unique brand of hypnotic, beguiling electronic pop music. Shaw-Han has enjoyed a two-fold musical life as both an electronic composer/performer and an in-demand live keyboardist. After spending a decade studying with the Royal Conservatory classical piano program, he combined his love for music and computers under the name "I Am Robot And Proud" in 2000 while completing a degree in Computer Science.

A new ninth studio album titled Lucky Static will be released on November 2nd on Darla Records. On Lucky Static , Liem developed a unique approach where songs were constructed in tandem with reactive computer-generated animations. “Interpreting music visually became an important part of how I composed this album. It might sound strange, but many of these songs started out as Instagram posts - geometric animation concepts, with music being fed into them using homemade software. I spent a year creating and posting these computer programs online as wordless meditations... audio-visual loops that appear in your timeline as peaceful musical moments. Observing how the shapes reacted to different rhythms and pitch combinations would feed into the songwriting process for each track.”

Liem has enjoyed a prolific career spanning decades and disciplines. He co-designed the PlayStation 4 game Sound Shapes , and contributed to its soundtrack alongside Beck and Deadmau5. He has performed and collaborated with media artists Daito Manabe (Perfume, Rhizomatics) and Toshio Iwai (Tenori-On). His musical output includes 8 full-length albums, remixes for Yellow Magic Orchestra's Yukihiro Takahashi and commissions for labels such as Ghostly International, Arts & Crafts, Asthmatic Kitty, and Avex Japan.

I Am Robot And Proud 是来自加拿大多伦多的Shaw-Han Liem的电子音乐个人项目。他创作自己独特的品牌融合电子音乐和流行音乐。Shaw-Han的创作内容包括现场音乐，作曲和键盘演奏。他曾在加拿大皇家音乐学院学习古典钢琴。他做完成计算机科学学位以后他把两个最喜欢的事情，音乐和电脑，放在一起为了组成他自己个人项目I Am Robot And Proud。

Liem已经玩了几十年音乐，并做了很多不同的事情。除了他自己的音乐以外他也共同设计了PlayStation 4游戏叫Sound Shapes。他参加几个合辑里面也有国际音乐人包括Beck与 Deadmau5。他已经跟各种各样的艺人合作过例如Daito Manabe (Perfume, Rhizomatics) 与Toshio Iwai (Tenori-On)。他也之前发行过8完整张专辑，给过Yellow Magic Orchestra的Yukihiro Takahashi做过remix, 还给过国际厂牌Ghostly International, Arts & Crafts, Asthmatic Kitty,和Avex Japan委托工作。

I Am Robot And Proud 11月02号要在Darla唱片发行他的第九张专辑《Lucky Static》。 这张专辑Liem以自己独特的创作方式制作了这些歌曲。很多音乐是与计算机生成的动画一起被创作的。Liem说 “我从视觉上解读音乐。 它成为我创作这张专辑的重要部分。这张专辑的很多歌是从Instagram找到的几何动画的概念然后用了自制软件发去来声音。我花了一年一直在做这种过程为了创作这个组品。我观察了不同的形状会如何影响声音然后这是每首曲目的歌曲创作过程。

Meng Qi

Meng Qi has multiple identities. He's not only a electronic musician, but also a synth designer and a teacher.

On music. He started learning electronic music in 1999, released two albums in 2005 and 06 : "Landscape In Love" and "Landscape On Live" (ChinaVibe Recordings). In 2018 he released 2 albums : "Sidrolz" (Obsolete Staircases Recordings), an album played with his DIY instrument of the same name, exploring raw electronic expressions. and "Span" (Cloudchamber Recordings), a collection of snapshots in time, moods manifested into physical reality. His works also appear on compilation albums like "Synthetic China Vol.1", "Ectoplasmic Receptacles" and so on.

On synth designing, Meng Qi released "Voltage Memory" in 2015, the first eurorack module from China. Followed by some other module designs (e.g."DPLPG"). He had also transformed some open-source Ciat-Lonbarde circuits into circuit boards. Due to his constant and strong interests in musical interfaces, he built a lot of experimental musical instrument for researching.

On teaching, he had taught in Beijing Contemporary Music Academy, Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts and Central Academy of Fine Arts, for Sound Synthesis, Programming and Instrument DIY. He also had workshops and lectures in Munich Knobs & Wires, Shenzhen Design Society, Macao City Fringe Festival, Zhihu Club, TEDxDALIAN, Beijing Maker Space, XinCheJian, Maker Carnivals, Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Zajia lab and so on. In 2002 he wrote the first Fruityloops tutorial in Chinese, and 2005-08 with 18 sound synthesis tutorials, and in 2015 he worked with Zihua to record a modular synthesis video lecture.

Meng Qi is a pioneer of Chinese contemporary digital art, and is fame for his music and distinctive devices and instruments, which are being used by electronic music artists all over the world.

孟奇是有着多重身份的音乐人，不仅是电子乐艺术家，还是合成器设计师和教师。

音乐方面，他 1999 年开始自学电子音乐，2005-06 年在 ChinaVibe 厂牌发布专辑《山水恋》和《山水·颤》。2018 年在美国两个厂牌分别出专辑《Sidrolz》和《Span》，前者是用同名自制乐器演奏的音乐，探索电路特有的表现力。后者收录了近几年创作的单曲，记录了这段时间的一些情绪和状态。除专辑外，他的作品也出现在《合成中国 Vol.1》《Ectoplasmic Receptacles》等合辑中。

合成器设计方面，孟奇自 2007 年开始自制乐器，于 2015 年做完中国最早的 Eurorack 模块 Voltage Memory，之后陆续设计了 DPLPG 等模块。他也曾把 Ciat-Lonbarde 的一些开源设计画成电路板。又由于对演奏界面持续而强烈的兴趣，他设计制作了大量实验乐器进行研究。

教学方面，他曾于中央美术学院、现代音乐学院、天津美术学院等大学任教，课程内容包括声音合成、编程和乐器制作。并曾在慕尼黑 Knobs & Wire、知乎盐 Club、TEDx 大连、设计互联、澳门艺穗节、创客空间、新车间、创客嘉年华、上海音乐学院、杂家实验室等地讲座或开展工作坊。他曾于 2002 年写了最早的中文 Fruityloops 教程，在 2006-08 年间写了 18 篇声音合成教程，在 2015 年与自化合作录制模块合成器教学视频。

2014 年他加入液体宫殿乐队。他也曾于 2008-14 年效力于痴人乐队。

孟奇是当代中国数字艺术的先锋人物，他创造的音乐和独一无二的乐器和设备让他名声在外。这些设备已经被世界各地的电子音乐家所使用。

gogoj

Sheng Jie (gogoj) is a Beijing based experimental artist who is engaged in many processes; including experimental noise, contemporary composition, video, short film, art film and installation art. In 2010, Shen Jie established a studio called Shan which is themed around new media art exchange and education. In 2018, she co-founded the Dot Audiovisual Art Laboratory as well as heading Maybe Ensemble under the Maybe Noise label.

盛洁gogoj，从事实验声音影像艺术创作，作品形式包括实验噪音，当代作曲，录像，短片，艺术电影，装置艺术。2010年成立以新媒体艺术交流和教育为主题的shan工作室。2018年与人合作创建了Dot视听艺术实验室。同时也是Maybe Noise厂牌下Maybe Ensemble的负责人。
